Last year more than 2 million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis were reported in the United States. That’s an all-time high.

Are you concerned that you may have been exposed to a sexually transmitted disease (STD) or infection (STI)?

We’re here to help.

At AFC Urgent Care Timonium, we offer walk-in testing and speedy results. If you test positive, we’ll assist you in getting immediate treatment. If you test negative, you’ll walk away with peace of mind.

STDs are highly contagious and can be transmitted through vaginal, anal or oral sex. You are at high risk if you have more than one sexual partner, have sex without a condom and/or have sex with someone known to have had several sexual partners.

Symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases can include:

  • Genital sores/rash/bumps
  • Discharge from vagina, anus, penis or urethra
  • Genital itching or irritation
  • Pain or burning during urination
  • Pain, swelling or redness in testicles or vagina
  • Pain during sex

Important: sometimes no symptoms are associated with STDs. This is one of the reasons it is critical to be tested if you suspect you may have been exposed. If left undetected and untreated, these conditions can lead to damage to reproductive organs (which can result in infertility) and other serious complications.

We also recommend that you get tested if you have a new sexual partner and have not had routine testing done in the past year, for your own protection and that of your partner.

Many STDs are easily treated with antibiotics. Others that are passed through viruses cannot be cured with antibiotics but can be managed with other medications.

At AFC Urgent Care Timonium, we offer testing for the following:

  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Syphilis
  • Herpes
  • HIV
  • Hepatitis B
  • Hepatitis C
